If you are a horror game fan then you must know Silent Hill 4 ISO Emuparadise. And these games from the start have been synonymous with mysterious stories and psychological horror. But when I first played Silent Hill 4: The Room this didn’t feel the same and was much more out of the norm for the series. Not only does it scare you but also plays with your mind and keeps you on the edge of your seat all the time.

The Silent Hill 4 Game starts very well. The setting is not normal. It’s in the 4th floor of your apartment building where your character Henry Townshend finds himself trapped in a room. You can’t even open the door or let people out. Outside the window you see the world clearly but you are alone and helpless. I’m trapped psychologically from the very first minute. I felt trapped with Henry as if the walls of the game were closing in on me.
The story is deep and confusing. Henry finds a hole in his apartment that leads him to another world which is a different scary reality where he faces supernatural enemies and weird phenomena.
It was during the story that all these were found out to be the works of a serial killer Walter Sullivan who died mysteriously but still wanted to ruin the lives of Henry and other characters. I love how the game tackles loneliness and sins and the consequences of the past.
Silent Hill 4: The Room is unlike its predecessors in many ways at least in terms of gameplay.
The most unique feature of this game is that Henry’s room is both his prison and your safe point. This room also becomes weird and scary as the game progresses. I remember seeing bloodstains on the walls of a room or when I saw weird shadows in the mirror.
The enemies are scary, ghosts that will chase you relentlessly. This was another time I was in a narrow corridor and from behind the wall this ghost appeared. These were not only scary but the sudden appearance of these surprised me.
The puzzles in this game are like the ones in Silent Hill. At one point I had to put pieces together to unlock a mysterious door. These do require some thinking to solve them which adds to the story.
Silent Hill 4 graphics makes you feel totally into the game. Then each world has its own identity: a hospital, a dirty subway, an old building. The places felt so real to me as if I was there.
Most of the best is Akira Yamaoka’s music and sound effects. Suddenly in the silence strange noises or the echo of footsteps makes your heart race. In one scene I remember hearing someone whisper in an empty hallway. It was only for a few seconds but I felt uneasy for a long time.
1. Apartment Change I will never forget that day when my very “safe point” or my room became dangerous. Now the families have to endure the shadows from the mirror, some weird image on the TV, and blood all over the floor.
2. The Last Battle The final battle with Walter Sullivan was very psychological and emotional. I had to use my resources well and decide if stopping Walter was really the end.
Beyond Fear This is not a horror game but, rather, an emotional and psychological ride. Silent Hill 4: The Room taught me what real fear is and what games can do by telling a story within its own way. Is this game worth playing? If you are a horror game enthusiast and looking for something that will scare you but also challenge your mind then this game is for you. Silent Hill 4: The Room is a very memorable experience that will be even better with time. This game will put you in a world of fear and will get inside your head.
